How does sound meditation work?

"When our bodies are vibrating out of harmony, we are vibrating in dis-ease" Jonathan Goldman

When your body is in dis-ease, your natural resonances have been thrown out of balance due to long periods of stress, blocked emotions or undesirable environmental factors. Like an orchestra, when one part is out of tune, the orchestra is desynchronized. Healing can happen when we reduce these irregular fluctuations by entraining our bodies with stronger harmonic vibrations from nature, or sound frequencies simulated by musical instruments.

Sound healing instruments ring, beat, sing to generate sound waves that entrain the various parts of our bodies back to their optimal vibrations.

  • Got any tips for me to make the most out of the session?
Come with an open mind and heart. Try to observe without judgement, on the sounds, the various tones, especially space between the tone. Observe how the sounds make you feel. Where do you feel the sounds in your body? Try to visualize merging with the sounds.
  • I don't meditate, can I still join?"
Then this is a great way for you to experience a meditation. Sound is an efficient and effective tool to help you focus, and release your mind from thinking. Sound can help you to achieve a meditative state easier and faster, for both novice and practiced meditators. We guide you through the process. The sounds you receive will help put you into a relaxed state that will allow you to experience some of the benefits of meditation which may include reducing stress, increasing self-awareness, and improving your focus.
  • I fall asleep during meditation, will the sound still work?"
Since sound is energy, it will still work even when you are asleep. Many people fall asleep the first few times they try sound meditations because it may be the first time they have experienced such deep relaxation. We do recommend that you drop into a semi-awake state (kind of like just as you’re falling asleep) in which you will be able to remember and feel the effects. Some tips on not falling asleep: Avoid a big meal before the session. If you are not sensitive to caffeinated drinks, you may try to drink one before the session which may help make your mind more alert after the session. Please avoid caffeine after the session if possible.
  • My mind wanders a lot during meditation, will the same thing happen?"
The practice of meditation is a training of your mind to be aware of your thoughts. During a sound meditation, when a thought comes up, it’s OK. Just be aware you were thinking and guide your focus gently back to the sounds. Tips on how to use the sounds to meditate: Focus on the sounds, the various tones, especially space between the tone. Observe the various sounds and how they make you feel. Where do you feel the sounds in your body? Try to visualize merging with the sounds.
  • I am stressed out, and cannot imagine being able to lie still for 1 hour. Is it still worth it?"
As the zen saying go es, "Meditate 20 mins a day. Unless you're too busy, then you should meditate for an hour" One of the main benefits of meditation is to help you relax and train your mind from thinking to being aware of your thinking which will help relieve it from them. Try it now: Think of your next thought. Nothing comes up? That’s the space we are looking to be during a meditation. Sound is an efficient and effective tool to help you focus, and release your mind from thinking. Sound can help you to achieve a meditative state easier and faster, for both novice and practiced meditators. We guide you through all of our sound meditations with exercises to help you get into a state to receive the sounds.
  • I tried sound healing before and did not enjoy it. Is it worth trying it again?
There are many reasons which may have affected your previous sound experience. However, every sound facilitator, studio and the energy of the group you were with is different and will give you a different experience. Also sometimes when you have an energetic block in your body, heart or mind, the sound will help unblock and release it physically or emotionally. This may not be pleasant but do not fear these feelings, let go of trying to control them and try to even feel into them. That is the best way to release any unpleasant feelings from our bodies. When we allow for what makes us uncomfortable or scared, we experience breakthroughs in our healing and growth. You may consider a private session where we can provide a tailored, specific sound treatment to achieve the most optimal results for you.
  • Is there anything I should be aware of after the session?
It is best to take things slow and allow yourself time to reintegrate back to the real world. We recommend not setting any appointments right after your session, so you can take time to relax and not rush to go anywhere. Tips: Drink a lot of water. Avoid caffeine/ alcohol, or other stimulants Have a snack or small meal. Walk slowly, ideally barefoot, even if just for a bit Sound meditations are a great tool to promote restful sleep, so if you can, try to go home and sleep. Avoid loud places, or stress inducing activities
  • I felt an energetic release from the session, will it be gone for good?
This is a great sign that your mind and body were ready to release what was not working for you. However, your mindset will be the most important aspect to master to make sure these releases will not recur or affect you as deeply. Some Tips: Be aware of your thoughts especially those that are not supportive of your growth, expansion or bringing you joy Commit to only doing activities and connecting with people that brings you joy and happiness Develop a good network of friends who support you on your journey Spend time by yourself. Be OK to be alone. Meditate every day Sleep, rest and play more Be authentic to others and truthful to yourself Face your fears. Do what makes you scared, uncomfortable. Challenge yourself to go beyond your comfort zone. Minimize or discontinue connecting with people or systems that causes you suffering Drop the story. Stop complaining. Share your successes and your wants. Take responsibility of your feelings and not blame other people or events for making you feel a certain way. Keep strong boundaries. Do not do anything that makes you feel bad or that you don't want to do. Clearly communicate your needs and wants to people. Study, try and live different spiritual practices to see which one is most effective to help you stay joyful
